The Palau de la Música Catalana is a concert hall in Barcelona built by the architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner. The Palau is an architectural jewel of Catalan Art Nouveau, or Modernisme, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

In a semicircle on the sides of the back of the stage there are the figures of 18 young women popularly known as the muses. Their upper bodies are sculpted protruding from the wall while their lower bodies are portrayed by colorful mosaics that are part of the wall. Each of the women is playing a different musical instrument.

The Palau de la Música Catalana is a symbol for Catalans, due to its history and artistic value.
